On Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at the Regular Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board passed a Resolution in Recognition of the Pamplin Volunteer Fire & EMS, which would permit the Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department to operate the ground transport at the Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support levels (rescue squad).
The Unit responded to eight calls in the first two weeks the ambulance was in service.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF PRINCE EDWARD, VIRGINIA
IN RECOGNITION OF PAMPLIN VOLUNTEER FIRE & EMS
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Prince Edward, Virginia, wishes to enable the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) of the Pamplin Volunteer Fire & EMS to provide both non-ground transport (First Responder) and ground transport to all the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Life Support (ALS) levels, with the ability to bill for services within a time frame that has not yet been established; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Prince Edward, Virginia, acknowledges the compelling need for both non-ground and ground transport at the BLS and ALS levels to serve the Pamplin region to include areas in the County of Prince Edward; and
WHEREAS, by enabling the formation and operation of an EMS non-ground and ground transport at the BLS & ALS levels, capability can be established and can be operational immediately;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Prince Edward, Virginia, through the adoption of this resolution recognizes that the operation of an Emergency Medical Service with both non-ground transport and ground transport at the Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support levels will be established as an agency under the Pamplin Volunteer Fire & EMS Department and as an EMS agency to be operated within the County of Prince Edward.
