The Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room in the County Courthouse, 111 South Street, Third Floor, Farmville.
The Prince Edward County Planning Commission meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room in the County Courthouse, 111 South Street, Third Floor, Farmville.
Rescheduled: The Prince Edward County Industrial Park Project Committee will hold a meeting Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. in the County Administrator's Office at 111 South Street, Third Floor South, Farmville, Virginia 23901.
The Committee will convene in Closed Session in accordance with Section 2.2-3711(A)(3) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss the disposition of publicly-held real property in the Prince Edward County Industrial Park.
The Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors Room, Prince Edward County Courthouse, 111 South Street, Third Floor, Farmville, Virginia to give citizens an opportunity to comment on proposed amendments (additions/deletions) to the County's Enterprise Zone Boundary.
A proposed expansion of approximately 24 parcels of land totaling 239.56+/- acres is being recommended (23 properties in the Prospect District and one in Rice). The Enterprise Zone is a state sponsored program to encourage commercial and industrial development. The program offers no development incentives for residential improvements and does not affect property values, taxes or zoning. Properties included within the Enterprise Zone may be eligible for certain Real Property or Job Investment Grant incentives from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
All interested citizens are urged to attend. 2015 Enterprise Zone Boundary Amendment
The Prince Edward County Board of Equalization will meet on the day(s) hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration AND INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or his agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer (or agent) must provide a preponderance of the evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.
Meetings with the Board of Equalization are by appointment only. There are no walk-in appointments. Appointments will be scheduled every 15 minutes to minimize waiting.
