Local Parks
Prince Edward County is located in the center of an area served by three of Virginia's most beautiful state parks. Twin Lakes State Park, located in the eastern part of Prince Edward County consists of two large lakes, that offer swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. Cabins and campground facilities are also available. Bear Creek Lake State Park and Holliday Lake State Park are also within 30 minutes of Farmville.
The 2,775-acre Briery Creek Wildlife Area, located in central Prince Edward County, opened in January 1989 and offers an 845-acre -stocked lake. The lake is stocked and managed by the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries. Briery is open during daylight hours for fishing and canoeing. the lake is stocked with large mouth bass, sunfish, channel catfish, crappie and bluegills, and more. Permanent boat ramps, restroom facilities and fishing piers are available for public use.
