TOURIST INFORMATION SIGNS leading to Virginia's Heartland Regional Visitor Center & Transportation Heritage Musuem - a State Certified Visitor Center located at 121 East Third Street in Farmville. On May 21, 2009 - four signs were installed on the off ramps leading into the Town of Farmville. In the next few weeks, 9 more signs will be installed around the Town of Farmville - all signs lead to the Visitor Center for visitors and locals alike!
The Tourism Advisory Board's first order of business was to develop a plan for how best to market Prince Edward County and the Town of Farmville. To begin, the Board completed an "inventory assessment" on the area. This assessment answered the question: "What amenities does the area have to offer to visitors, to folks who relocate to our area, or for new business opportunities?". Once that assessment was complete, the Board used the information to create a brochure highlighting all the area has to offer, as well as listing the TOP 50 places to Tour Virginia's Heartland. This brochure would be distributed to all 13 Virginia Welcome Centers as well as to the other 58 Certified Visitor Centers across the Commonwealth.
