Please remember that the only entrance available is the Third Street entrance, next to Farmville Baptist Church.  Also, all persons entering the Courthouse must pass through a metal detector.  No weapons are allowed inside the Courthouse.

Payment may be made by mail, in person or by using the drop box (NO CASH) located in the Courthouse parking lot.   Payment may be made online by clicking here.

2024 Kennel Tags are now available for purchase.  You may purchase them by mail or in person.  Please remember that our county ordinance requires that you mail or bring the rabies certificate to us.  If you need further information, please contact our office at (434) 392-3454.

Treasurer’s office hours are 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday, except for Federal, State and County Holidays.

Fees & Taxes

The Treasurer's Office accepts payments for real estate taxes*, personal property taxes, landfill fees, vehicle license taxes, and also issues dog licenses.

Note: The terms "Nominal" and "Effective" are for illustration purposes only. The "Nominal" tax rate is the actual tax rate set by the Board of Supervisors.

*Elderly and handicapped homeowners may be eligible for real estate tax relief. If you think you may qualify, please contact the Commissioner of the Revenue.

Dog Licenses

Licenses Offered:

Annual Kennel Tags:  Kennel tags are offered each year beginning November 1^st and due no later than the following January 31^st. Kennels of 5-20 dogs are $35.00 per year and kennels of 21-50 dogs are $50.00 per year.  One tag will be issued per dog with valid rabies vaccination certificate.   

 

Lifetime Individual Tags:  Lifetime tags are offered at a one-time fee of $10.00 per dog.  Tags are valid for the lifetime of the dog so long as the rabies vaccination is kept current and updated in the Treasurer’s office.

Replacement Tags: Replacement tags for lost tags are available in the Treasurer’s office for a fee of $1.00 per tag upon presentation of the current rabies certificate.
